Free AR Measuring Tool
Measure square footage with your phone
Walk the edges of a room, patio, deck or driveway and get instant square footage and perimeter. No app install, no sign-up. Works in augmented reality on supported phones, with live-camera and photo modes everywhere else.
Point your camera
On AR-capable phones we map the floor automatically. In camera or photo mode, tap two ends of any object with a known length (a tape measure, a door, a 2x4) to calibrate the scale.
Tap the corners
Tap each corner of the area you want to measure. We draw the outline live and show the running perimeter. Made a mistake? Undo any point.
Get your numbers
Tap Done for total square footage and perimeter, in feet or metric. Copy the results or post them straight to the renovation forum for advice and quotes.
Got your measurements? Ask the pros what it should cost.
Post your square footage on the Renovation Reviews forum and get free feedback from contractors and homeowners across Canada and the US.

This tool was built by the team behind LF Builders, a Toronto renovation company, together with the home.renovation.reviews community. Use it to estimate flooring, interlock and flagstone patios, decks, fences, driveways, lawns, kitchens and bathrooms before you talk to a contractor. Knowing your square footage before you ask for quotes keeps estimates honest and helps you compare bids apples to apples.
How accurate is it?
AR mode uses your phone's motion sensors and depth estimation (WebXR) and is typically within a few percent on flat surfaces with good lighting. Camera and photo modes depend on your calibration object: the longer the reference object and the closer it is to the plane you are measuring, the better the result. For quotes and material orders it is a great starting point; for cuts and permits, always confirm with a tape measure.
